Annie Laurence owns "Death on Demand," a mystery bookstore on Broward's Rock Island, South Carolina. When a non-fictional murder takes place too close to home, Annie gets involved. The police think she might be a little TOO involved, and Annie has to find the real killer before the police arrest her.
This is a great light mystery series by Carolyn Hart. One of my faviorite bits is the contest Annie holds in her bookstore. Each month Annie has a local artist create five paintings depicting scenes or clues from mystery novels. Somewhere near the beginning of every Death on Demand book, each painting is decscribed in detail so the reader can play along. By the end of the book, someone makes his or her guesses, winning the contest and giving the reader the answers. The contest is as much fun as the books.
