Excellent - I'm on bookring list for this. I think it's going to take at least a year to get to me. I'll read and send it on.
As I read this I couldn't help thinking that the film was a very good adaptation of the book, which can be a rare thing.
I really enjoyed the book. It's well written and feels like an original POV. It's obviously written for younger readers but is the sort of book which any aged reader can enjoy and be challenged by.
At the beginning it is very repetative. This seems to stop by the middle section. I'm not sure what this is to convey, other than that it is from a young child's perspective?
Overall this is poignant and bittersweet, particularly the last two sentences.
Go to Yad Veshem in Jerusalem. It's a strangely uplifting experience in some ways, as well as what you'd expect....
