A collection of short stories from the writers who made up the Southern California School of Writers. I discovered some of my favorite authors from this book. All of the stories are great, but my favorites are "The Wages of Cynicism," "The Wind Blows Free," and especially "Different." Definitely recommended.

The big name that drew me to this book was Ray Bradbury. He's one of my all-time favorite authors, but I was unaware that he was part of a group of sci-fi writers in the 50s and 60s. My favorite part of this collection was actually the introduction: I loved learning about this illustrious group. I had mixed feelings about the stories. Some were excellent, and some I didn't care for at all. However, I think it was interesting to get to experience each group member's style. The low point was Lone Star Traveler, which was hopelessly cliche, and while I liked the style of The Man Who Was Slugger Malone, I thought that it was confusing... I didn't quite get it. On the other hand, my favorite stories were Always Before Your Voice, The Function of Dream Sleep, People of the Blue-Green Water, The Wind Blows Free, and Different.

Thanks again for the trade, Elsiah!
