A Thousand Splendid Suns was a wonderful book centering around an important friendship in the lives of two women living in Afghanistan. These women seem to have overall horrific adult lives, however their friendship makes everything just that much more bearable.

I loved this book. I had no intention of reading it. I wanted something light, but because I'm terrible at checking my BookSwim queue, when I returned my last few books - this one arrived in the mail a few days later so I buckled down and started in. I'm so glad it did.

Hosseini has, in both The Kite Runner and this novel, been able to introduce me to a world I only knew through a stereotypical scope. He has a way of bringing to light that no country or culture is made up of only one type of person and I would like to personally thank him for opening up my eyes.
