I'd love to go see the movie, but hate to read a really good book AFTER seeing the movie, so now I have a self-imposed deadline of reading this before the movie leaves the theatres....

LOVED this book. Didn't know if I would or not, was a bit afraid it might be too much ra-ra, we're the greatest, U.S. of A ... but it was not. It is a wonderful, funny, emotional, mysterious, uplifting, and sad story. I loved the story of Ada, especially, coming into her own. And the characters Inman meets along the way are fantastic - such a great story! I read somewhere that the inspiration for this book was Charles Frazier's grandfather, but Charles Frazier has an amazing imagination to compliment whatever facts he was able to dig up. Would love to discuss this book with others who have read it.

The day after I finished reading it, I saw the movie. They changed alot, added some more detail about the war (I guess to get men to go see it), but all in all, it was well done. As usual, the book is so much better, but it was neat to read it and then see it.

Going back to Pooh, who wants to read it some day.
