One Nation Under God
3 journalers for this copy...
I've bought almost a dozen copies of this, trying to make sure all my family and friends and all those who've signed up for the Book Ring get a chance to read it. I think that highly of the quality of the writing, and of the message.
What would living in the USA be like if we kept electing those favored by Robertson, Dobson, and others of the Christian Right? Fortunately Obama understands diversity, as noted in his inaugural speech:
"... we know that our patchwork heritage is a strength, not a weakness. We are a nation of Christians and Muslims, Jews and Hindus -- and non-believers. We are shaped by every language and culture...."
However, we are still frighteningly close to the scenario Wales evokes in this exciting and provocative work. Lest we forget.... Please read it and keep it moving!

Thanks for sending this; it looks good, and is indeed a frightening scenario. It must be really good, for you to have bought so many copies! Obama in the White House gives me more hope than I've had for some time. I will take you up on giving me a little time....not too much, but I'm feeling guilty at not yet having read a couple of wishlist rabcks(rings come first).
ouch! I am so SORRY~~this is the third read-but-unjournalled book I've found whille digging for non-mysteries to include in an ABC (already been crossed) bookbox. mea culp, mea culpa.... probably one I wanted to comment on extensively, and hadn't time right then. Unfortunately, that easily turns to "out of sight, out of mind."
So, what do I remember, now that it has now been ages since I read it.....
I thought the premise was terrific~~loved the way it was set up, telling the story through letters, blogs, websites~and the farther to the right the country moves tea party, anyone), the more terrifyingly possible a future it becomes. And I'm a total sucker for coming of age stories.
Unfortunately, I didn't think it was well-written, and I found it way too didactic. :-(
Thanks for sharing, cheryllr, I'm glad I read it, sorry it disappeared in my mess for so long, but I an now sending it off to find a next reader~
