Bought this for myself, as I'm trying to read more Hugo-winning novels.
Interesting concepts in this book, though a little weak on character development.
If i had to guess i would say the author has not spent much time with women (beyond those who read John Grisham novel? seriously?). Beyond his oblivion when it comes to women, an entertaining read. Thanks for sharing rednumbertwo. :)

I agree, the female human characters were terrible, but the Neanderthal parts nearly made up for it. I loved all the tiny and huge differences between the two worlds, especially the differences in scientific thought. And food! Very interesting. I think I'd like to read the next in the series.
