I enjoyed this real life tale of life in the small town of New Auburn, Wisconsin, a small farming community with a population of 485. On the outside, this is a look at the area's volunteer fire department, but on the inside this is a love story between a writer and a community and its way of living. At times extremely funny (for instance he was asked to sit on a float in a parade above a sign that says "writer") at other times extremely moving, Perry writes with compassion and love for his material. Highly reccomended...
