Thank you so much!!!! I just came home after a mini trip, to actually find 5 books waiting for me, 3 of which where on my wishlist! It feels like I've won a Smile-Day Contest! And Two Caravans, is one of the books i have wanted to read for a long time now! Along with it came a wonderful notebook. Thank you house-elfdobby! It was a very lovely surprise and one that made me very-very happy.

I took the book with me on my trip in Croatia last week and I must say it was the perfect reading for a perfect trip! i totally enjoyed the romantic story which went side by side with the real problems emigrants have to deal with, making this way the book "softer" and funnier. The book is now heading to Finland to shorten Savotar's wishlist!

Journal Entry 7 by Savotar from Turku, Varsinais-Suomi / Egentliga Finland Finland on Saturday, August 29, 2009
I still have 50 pages to go but I'm writing the journal entry already and add things afterwards if needed. :) Thank you one more time for the RABCK, Contraforsa!

The story itself brings back memories from the time when I worked in a hotel in England. My experiences aren't as crazy as the events of this book, but they are crazy nevertheless. My duty manager threatened to fire me because I didn't agree to go out with him and ran after me looking for mistakes. When he found out I'm a uni student and doing the low-paying job only to cover the costs of the language course I was attending, his (and the rest of the management's) attitudes to me changed totally...

But back to the novel. I liked the plot, even though it was a bit jumpy. Characters were interesting. I liked the way the narrator changed and you learned more about the situation and the characters. I also loved the language, especially the dialogues. XD This story is crazy in a positively slavic way!

What I didn't like were the letters (long and boring) and the dog's monologue. I believe dogs are way, way smarter than what this one sounded.

All in all, this novel was worth reading. Since I promised to RABCK it further, I'm offering it on the Finnish forum.

I have one more comment to add:

The dialogues in this book were truly wonderful, as I pointed out before. But today I noticed that even though the writer sees humour in the bad English of the foreigners, she does also in the colloquial English and different accents of the native speakers. Nobody speaks perfect Engish, but that's smoething we all know already. :)

This book goes next to Piiku. Happy reading!

The book is here, thank you Savotar!

Most of the characters felt like caricatures, even my favourite, the DOG. The story itself was still believable, I've heard stories of similar working conditions before... Like Savotar, I enjoyed the dialogues a lot, this book would be wonderful read out loud!

*** Edit Jan 2nd: sending to Chania. Happy reading:)

Journal Entry 11 by Chania at Kokkola, Keski-Pohjanmaa / Mellersta Österbotten Finland on Tuesday, January 4, 2011
Thanks a lot, Piiku! I look forward reading this, I've read "A Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian" and enjoyed it a lot.

Enjoyable book! I loved the story, the language, all of it. My favourite parts were defenitively "the dog talk" - bits.

What a novel! Amusing and sad at same time. "Scenes of farce, tragedy and horror." I could not say better.
