Love it! An imaginative story of small hard-shelled, seaweed-haired creatures on the Cornish coast called Beachcombers, with huge hearts and an even larger sense of adventure. The hero, Winkle, goes in search of his missing sister (Cockle) who has been taken by a Black Dragon and deposited in the lair of the hairy, warty Shagpile who crunches up Beachcomber bones for breakfast. There are monsters, treasure, crystals - and humans (Clodhoppers) - and plenty of excitement. The illustrations are magical in themselves! What more could you want from a children's book?

Finally I got time to read this lovely story! I love it. The drawings make this story better understanding and more imaginative! Two beachcombers, Winkle and his sister Cockle, and 2 children Danny and her brother Sam, in beachcombers' language they are Clodhoppers, are cute figures who would like to solve a puzzle, to save their world from bad times. Refreshing story, with beautiful drawings, I am so happy to get a chance to read it!!
