Some basic rules for “My Bookbox” (shamelessly stolen from Tribefan):
1. All books should be labeled with a BCID.
2. Please journal the box when you get it AND when you send it on.
3. Take out as many books as you want and please replace with an equal number.
4. PM the next person on the list for their address when you get the box. If you don’t get a response after two-three tries, go to the next person in line.
5. Please keep the box no more than 2 weeks.
6. Journal again when you send the box off to the next person
7. Send via Media mail. Delivery confirmation is at your discretion.
8. If the box looks beat up, please replace it.
9. It's NOT necessary to journal every book in the box, please only journal the books you take, the ones you put in, and the handwritten journal in the box.

Any Questions PM me.

Thanks for joining and I hope everyone finds plenty of new 1001 books to enjoy!

Yip! The box made it to hot & sweaty Houston, Texas. The poor box has been bashed, clanked and banged. It is in pretty bad shapem so I will rebox in a fresh box.

Unfortunately, I already own most of the books in the box, so there wasn't a lot for me to choose from.

I am taking out:
Crime & Punishment by Dostoyevsky

I am adding:
The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde

I will PM the next in line, get it reboxed, and send it out ASAP.

Thanks so much for including me in your first bookbox!

The box arrived home safely today. I'm happy to say that only one book that left with the box came home! I didn't have time to journal all of the books that I'm taking out before I had to leave for work, but I'll be reading 13 of them, and the rest will go back in the box. I pan to send the box out again in January, so if you'd like to join again, keep your eyes on the box/rings/rays forum. I hope that everyone found some good reads, and Kookaburra and angeeaustin, I'm sorry it wasn't much of a success for you.

Oh boy! I got this in the mail today and the box itself is COMPLETELY destroyed. Seriously, I was spilling books right and left on my way out of the post office. It might take me a few days to find a box the right size for this, because I clearly can't reuse this one :)
I'm typing this at work so I will journal it again once I get home and check to see what I will keep. Thanks for including me!

Journal Entry 19 by rem_KQI-811293 on Monday, April 19, 2010
Ok, I have found a new box and contacted the next person on the list, just waiting for them to get back to me. I am taking:
The Human Stain
Cold Comfort Farm
Never Let me Go
The Poisonwood Bible
The Bluest Eye
The Virgin Suicides
Atonement

I am putting in mostly classics, because I wanted to grab some more contemporary things. Here's what's going in:
Lord Jim
Last of the Mohecans
The Deerslayer
Franny and Zooey
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn
The Sound and the Fury
The Fall of the House of Usher (which is a compilation that also contains The Purloined Letter and The Pit and the Pendulum, which are on the list, plus several other Poe stories which are not)

Thanks for letting me part of this box, I am all exited about my new reading material!

I was sitting on my front porch on this first day of the holiday weekend when the mailtruck drove up. I knew something was up when the mailman put his truck in park and went around to the back and pulled out a bookbox. "It's a little beat up," he told me, and I saw the hole, the gash in the side. Nothing seems to have fallen out, so all is well. I'll be sending this back out on the road Tuesday, hopefully.

Journal Entry 24 by passionatebklvr at Wynnewood, Pennsylvania USA on Thursday, June 24, 2010

The box arrived awhile ago and I just keep forgetting to journal it! I was excited to see this guy again, but I have been wild-releasing most of my 1001 books, so I will have to hold on to they box until I have either 1) read a few of the books in it now or 2) read enough of the 1001 books on my shelf to swap some out. As soon as I have it ready to circulate again, I'll post in the forums. In the mean-time, if you're interested in participating in the next round, send me a message and I'll get the list started now. Thanks to everyone who's taken part already, it's great fun watching the box travel and of course, having more books to read!
