Elemental Masters, Book 3
I'm really enjoying the Elemental Masters series: new twists on old stories. This one is loosely based on Cinderella, but set in England during World War I. There are a couple of good reviews here.
Excellent stuff; I'm only giving up this copy because it's an extra.
Other copies on my BookCrossing shelf: 7396380 • 14277405

This bookray has now started!
Here are the instructions:
1. Make a quick journal entry when you receive the book.
2. Let's see if anyone reads this part! ;) PM hyphen8 for an address and send me a postcard with some interesting stamps on it for my mom the stamp collector. (I tried doing a ring with an envelope for the used stamps at the back, but it stalled and I never got any of them, so I thought postcards sent to me might work better.)
3. Read and send on within 1 month - or make a journal entry to let us know how it's going if you need to keep the book longer.
4. Make a journal entry when you've finished.
5. Use whatever shipping method works best for you.
Reading order:
1. Lottiotta (UK) - prefers UK/EU, but can do international surface mail if necessary
2. UlrikeW (Germany) - international surface mail ok
3. Dreamer-kitty (Canada) - prefers North America passed book on without reading it
4. Crossing-Guard (Canada) - prefers Canada/US
5. darkpunkangel (Canada)
6. Dancesports (Australia)
7. Tsjara (Netherlands) - book was here, then the ray continued! Thanks Tsjara!

This is the second book I've read by Mercedes Lackey, and I have to say, she's kind of growing on me. :) In this particular book, I like how there were plots for each character, all very much intertwined. I also liked the attention to detail, and the effort she'd made to really capture the atmosphere of the country at the time. I liked the character interaction, and I really liked how dastardly Alison was!
I'm about to PM the next on the list for an address. :)
Thanks again!

I enjoyed reading this part of the Elemental Masters series, but I think that I actually liked the Fire Rose better.
Now it's travelling again - and I'm sorry to have kept it longer (I'm living in a place where the post office has impossible opening times at the moment...).

Dreamer-kitty passed me this book as she has no time to read it at the moment. I have one book a head of this and then I can't wait to read it, I just finished "The Serpents Shadow" and it was awesome so no doubt this one will also be great! If you haven't read "The Serpents Shadow" and are interested please let me know as I am happy to send it along if there is interest.
What a great book, thank you so much for sharing this with me! I really enjoyed this new telling of Cinderella and all the characters.
As I am the last one on the ring I guess I will be mailing it back to hyphen8.
-Updated Feb 1. Book is now going to be sent to Quebec.

I hope you enjoy this bookring.
Arrived here yesterday, it was too fat to fit through the mailbox, so had to pick it up at the post office :p Thanks for sending Dancesports and for the lovely postcard! Looking forward to reading it, I like fairy tale retellings. And thanks for sharing hyphen8! (oh and PM is coming :p)
Sorry for taking so long, I thought it would be okay since I was the last on the list.
I just finished reading this today and enjoyed it a lot. I was actually reading something else, and had this as my carry-around book, but then I couldn't put it down.. so I finished this one first :p There doesn't seem to happen much actually.. but somehow you keep reading. And the characters were great :) Will keep an eye open for the other parts of the series.
Will look for new readers sometime soon :)
(ps. hyphen, did my card/stamps arrive?)

After picking this book up a couple of days ago I couldn't really put it down. I ended up reading it in two evenings. Eleanor's stepmother is so nasty you just want to see her get her 'just deserts'. I've got to say though, when she does finally get smushed it was a bit quick and anti-climactic. But maybe thats just me :P
I'll definitely be looking up the others in this series. I've read a couple of Lackey's Valdemar novels (two or three years back), and reading this has made me want to go hunt those down, too.
I PMed ArabellaFigg for her address yesterday, so will post it on when I get it. Thanks for sharing! :)

Posted to ArabellaFigg on the 4th of February (and then forgot to make a release note as usual ><). She obviously hasn't journaled it yet, so I will PM her. She has one of my books I sent out on a ray that she needs to pass on too.
In case anyone was wondering, I do have proof of postage ^^

I am so sorry that I haven't put a journal entry for this book sooner. I have been very busy and things just sort of got on top of me. Unforetunately, I haven't been able to read the book, but thank you for posting it lemon-crisis. I will post it on asap. Sorry again.
I have rec'd the book yesterday. I have a book that I'm currently reading then I'll move on this one. Shouldn't take me too long before I pass it along to the next reader!
Finally read it!
It’s a nice story but way too long in my opinion; there are way too many details that make it heavy as a story. Also, there are a few too many secondary characters making harder to understand the intrigue. When I started to read the story, it had seemed familiar and it’s due to the fact that the author used the character of Cinderella to create the one of Eleanor. I don’t know if I’ll read other books by this author has I found the reading long and dragging at moments, the writing wasn’t always fluid. Still, it was an okay read.
I have the address of the next bcer in line to read it, 4thEstate. The book will be mailed monday the 16th, after work.

Book came in to land here today. I'll get to it ASAP - thank you!
Finished this one a few days ago. Not bad - it's an interesting re-telling of the Cinderella story, set against World War I. Sometimes, though, it seemed like the book tended to repeat itself - and there were long stretches of the book where we didn't see Eleanor. Still, not bad.
