Malicious Intent

Author Kathryn Fox is a general practitioner who lives in Sydney, Australia. Malicious Intent is Fox's first novel. She is working on the second novel in the Anya Crichton series.
Pathologist, Dr. Anya Crichton is a freelancer in the male-dominated field. She's divorced and her ex-husband, Martin has custody of their young son because she is a working mother and Martin is a stay-at-home father. In Martin's case, the translation is immature and lazy man.
Anya's investigation into the overdose death of a young Lebanese woman from a fundamentalist Muslim family raises frightening questions when she discovers coincidences between that death and the suicides of several other women.
Anya and her friend, Detective Sergeant Kate Farrer, chase the evil that is terrorizing unsuspecting women. Their investigation, if unsuccessful, could mean the death of one or both of the determined women.
Malicious Intent is a fast-paced and exciting novel with interesting characters and a scintillating plot. There are a few superfluous scenes that slow the action, but they don't detract from the novel's overall excitement.
I'll certainly be looking out for the next one from this author.
