The reviews for this book were outstanding. I expected more. I found it very difficult to follow the authors trail of thought sometimes. His sentences were often rambling. It was as if someone was on an acid trip and wrote down whatever thoughts came to his head. It was an unusual read and true to my style, I always finish all the books I start to read.
Happy Reading.

Rec'd three months ago in a controlled release by spydervenym. I forgot to register my "find" until now! Thanks, spyder, for sharing. I had wanted to read this book for a long time. I just finished this week. Actually, I finished a couple of weeks ago, but, since then, I've slowly re-read the last fifty pages to make sure I understood them. Events were much clearer to me the second time around.
I sympathize with readers who say this book is oblique or rambling, although I wasn't bothered by those characteristics. Author Crowley's writing style -- lyrical, sophisticated, involved -- is as important as the plot; he is as enamored of the words as he is of the characters and the things that happen to them or because of them.
There are passages that I found beautiful, not least the one in Book Two, "Brother North Wind's Secret," in which protagonists Smoky, Alice, and Sophie lie together on a hill and variously contemplate the same night sky. Magnificent execution.
I'll pass this copy of Little, Big along to another BCer.

Thanks, Joe, for thinking of me. I received your note, too - thanks for ministering to this little well-read book. It'll go on my TBR shelf; hopefully, I'll find time to read it.

Received in the mail a couple of days ago. Thanks very much, valpete, for the generous RABCK! I'm not sure when this will resurface on Mt. TBR, but it's safe until then!
I read about half of this book but am just not motivated to finish it. Other things keep taking a priority. It is interesting but certainly not fast paced and it's hard to see where the story is going...
