The Tenderness of Wolves
3 journalers for this copy...
Winner of the 2006 Costa Book of the Year award....(is this a UK thing?) My pal Adrienne gave me this book while I was staying at her flat last April. (BX'ing Convention time!)
The fun thing is....it takes place in CANADA, on the north shore of Georgian Bay...a frontier, 1867 kind of book with murder, kidnapping, suspense. Funny it's 1867, as that's the year Canada became a nation.
Written by a Brit about Canada, I wonder how much guessing went into it? Or, I may be surprised with authenticity.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
Kind reader: You have found a travelling book! This book has been released at the 2010 "Word on the Street Festival" by a member of Toronto Bookcrossers. Please go to the Bookcrossing website (Free and anonymous), and make a journal entry to let me know you've found it. Then, read and release so it can continue on its journey. You can join Bookcrossing if you like, and help make the whole world a library.
Picked this one up at the Toronto BookCrossers meet-up at WOTS in Toronto. How wonderful to meet the Toronto BCers in person at such a fabulous event. Thank you Bookgirrl. This book will be on its way to Winnipeg in a few days along some great memories. :)
I found this book in the used book sale at the gift shop at the Millennium Library in Winnipeg several weeks ago. I didn't realize it was a Bookcrossing release until today.
I was very pleased to find it because this book is on the list for a book club I belong to (Talking Books Toastmasters). I've been enjoying reading it but have some quibbles with the author's knowledge of 19th century Canada. One glaring example is referring to people eating cornbread while on a winter expedition in fur trade country. Hasn't she heard of bannock? It's the kind of thing that really detracts from what in many ways is a fascinating and well written story.
When I'm done reading it will be passed on to others in Talking Books.
So where has it been between Toronto in 2010 and Winnipeg MB in winter of 2015?

I've held on to this one far longer than intended.
