Garden Spells

This is almost an adult fairy tale with so many loving things going on, it makes you feel the magic while you read it. The bad stuff happens before the book begins, and the whole book is about healing and unexplained love. A magical apple tree and some enchanted flowers seem to be all you need in this town to overcome threats, and everyday horrors. The characters are well formed and empathetic, and I cared so much for each one! I wish everyone had a chance to read this-it make you feel so good!
This one has a look about it that is very appealing, and YES, I do often judge a book by its cover. My daughter loved this one, so it has a head start with me.
Finished today and with great joy. It is a lovely, lovely little book that I am next handing over to my mom. What a sweet, happy ending book. I also loved all the characters, except for the one anti-hero. This book reminded me of how I used to feel in Vermont, at my grandmother's house in the summer, lying on my back in her back yard. Or at the top of the hill across from her house, looking down on all the comings and goings. It felt like anything was possible and like I had all the time in the world to find out if it would. Charming is the word for this book!
