The is quite possibly my favorite vampire book ever writien. It's primarly the story of a advanced, but decaying world, but it has a strong, romance undertone. Vampire romance is common place these days due to Twilight (which isn't a bad thing.)but most of the time I just don't find it belivable. This story however is vampire fiction at it's best...in a symbolic sort of way it's a fairy tale, in a cruel, twisted world that goes terribly wrong. There is a distictive element of romance to this story, but it's quite unrequited. It's not often that I read a fantasy books where infaturation just goes terribly wrong. I sympathise strongly with the broken heroine of this story, she loses everything the moment she laid eyes on D.

I can ramble forever about the tragic beauty of these books. I'll repeat myself to the point of annoynce in saying that this series is the height of vampire fiction.

I habve hopes of attaining an extra copy of this book, and to realease it in a rose garden or greenhouse, in fitting with the title of course.
