Oops!!! I found this book buried under all the books at my home. I have totally forgotten to journal it. It's just not like me. I'm sorry. Luckily I have been doing some proper cleaning. I found this book from the bc café in Montmartre, Paris.

With great enthusiasm I started to read this book and I think it's so relaxing to look at the pictures and also read about the lives of the artists. There are good tips of what to look from the pictures. I have found my personal favourites from the book, too. The chapter "Orientalism" caught my eye because it's different from others. The painting "African Elephants" is lovely. I am actually reading a novel where the protagonist travels and sees the world on the 19th century; maybe that's why this picture drew my attention. I learnt that on the 19th century the orient started to interest westerners and a couple of artists were fascinated by Algeria. Therefore I choose this book to represent Algeria and Africa in Tarna's geographical challenge (http://www.bookcrossing.com/forum/30/420361) on Finnish forum.

I think I know who I'm going to give this book next.

Thank you Joika.

Really interesting. Would be very hard to give it away so might be tempted to add it to my permanent collection!
