Dracula, Prince of Many Faces: His Life and His Times
4 journalers for this copy...
From back cover: ...reveals the extraordinary life and times of the infamous Vlad Dracula of Romania (1431 - 1476), nicknamed the Impaler. Dreaded by his enemies, emulated by later rules like Ivan the Terrible, honored by his countrymen even today, Vlad Dracula was surely one of the most intriguing figures to have stalked the corridors of European and Asian capitals in the fifteenth century.
Vlad Dracula also served as the inspiration for Bram Stoker's classic vampire tale. However, as this biography proves, "the real Dracula is far more interesting than the fictional vampire created by Bram Stoker" (Houston Chronicle). Covering Vlad's Draculas's entire life and subsequent legend, this book includes "a fascinating chapter on the mystery of Dracula's empty grave" (New York Times Book Review).

Sending to NMReader in Albuquerque. Sorry I didn't still have the other books you wanted, my friend! But just think, soon we'll live in the same city and can exchange books face-to-face!
It has arrived - Thank you
I thought an update on this book might be appreciated.
I have started reading this book in the background from my typical rings/rays. It is interesting to learn about Dracula and his father Dracul's history. I suspect this book will be RABCKed when I finish it
July 1: I have reached the point where Dracula has just taken his oath to avenge his father and brother's deaths.
July 9: The last bit I read dealt with comparing Dracula and his "punishments" against some of his contemparies. ~halfway through the book
July 10: I read a little more and am learning how the Germans desserted Dracula.
August 16: 2 week break for vacation. I hope to finish this book before the end of the month.
Sept 13: Well I didn't finish it in August. I am getting closer. I think I have 70 pages left to read. It was hard to get back into this book after such a long break. I had just finished reading the chapter on his Imprisonment and Death.

I am glad I read this book because I learned alot about a corner and time in the world that I didn't know a lot about.
It was interesting to see how the "real" Dracula influenced the fictional character.

I received this in the new year when my cousin brought it alongwith her from the states...thank you so much for sending it to her! This book got left behind at home when I came back to Delhi...was brought by my mother me when she came to visit recently, hence the delay in journalling. Will pass this on to my boyfriend, Ecuas soon, who's a Dracula fan. I'm sure he'll enjoy reading about the man on whom Bram Stoker's vampire classic is based!
This book has travelled much of USA before making its way to India and now it's continuing its journey here...it has travelled with ecuas from Delhi to Pune. Since you're so fond of this vampire legend, I hope you enjoy reading about his source of inspiration!
Dracula! I love vampires and have read Stoker's Dracula...wonder what this book holds!
