'With the backdrop of an elegant Cornwell mansion before the start of WWII, and a vast continent-spanning canvas during the turbulent war years, this involving story tells of an extraordinary young woman's coming of age, coming to grips with love and sadness, and in every sense of the term, coming home...'

This has just arrived in the mail from California. I've enjoyed other Rosamunde Pilcher books, so I'm looking forward to this one. It'll be a while, though, since my TBR stack is so high! Thanks, Beachglass!
I loved this book. It's the long (900+ pages) story of Judith Dunbar, from 1935 to 1945, through the ages of 14 to 24. It's long, but it moves quickly; I didn't want to put it down. Judith's father works in the Far East. Her mother and little sister are going to join him and live in Singapore; Judith will become a boarder at St. Ursula's School in Cornwall. She expects to rejoin them in four years, but the war intervenes. This is a tale of friendships and family, loss and loves, kindness and character. Rosamunde Pilcher does it so well. I wouldn't want to read only this type of book, but every so often it is just what one needs.

I chose this at bookcrossing meet-up At Port Java City Rosamunde Pilcher always tell a good tale. I may have read this before, but I don't mind a warm homecoming.
Yes, this was a reread for me. There are times when you are happy to find old friends, whose lives are familiar and warming. Rosamunde Pilcher knows how to draw you in.
Still on the shelf!
