I've read enought cussler novels to know this was an early one. But I was suprized at how different it was... nothing huge, Dirk is still a lucky crazy right on top it of it adventure. But the way he and sandecker talk is bit different, they lack the usual knowledge of what the other will probably do/say. Dirk is till working for the military, not directly NUMA. And of course there is no meation of Al Gionordo, Dirk's best friend.
