How clever is your cat?

Can your cat:

• Make sounds upon request?

• Predict a change in the weather?

Or is your cat the type who:

• Falls off ledges while sleeping?

• Continually runs into walls or doors?

You can find out how smart your cat really is by giving him or her the Cat IQ Test – a simple, four-part intelligence test.

Using observation and everyday household items, you will be able to measure your cat’s co-ordination, communication, social and reasoning powers.

Also includes:

• Suggestions on how to improve your cat’s IQ.

• Comparative scores of other cats by age, sex and type.

• A certificate to be filled in and proudly displayed on completion.

This book is scheduled for an international Bookray. If interested, please PM me with your location and shipping preferences.

PLEASE DO NOT WRITE IN THIS BOOK. Use a seperate piece of paper for taking the tests.

Here are the rules for the book ray:
1. Please journal as soon as you receive the book and again after you read it and mail it to the next person. This will help everyone else keep up with the book's current location.
2. Put the book at the top of your TBR pile (after the book that you are currently reading and any other rings/rays that arrived before this one.)
3. If you don't think you will be able to read this book within a reasonable time (approx. 1 month) after receiving it, please let me know before the book is mailed to you. I will be happy to move your name down on the list if needed.
4. After you read the book, please PM the next person on the list for their address. If you get the next person's address from RABCK.com, you may want to PM them just to ensure that the address has not changed.
5. Mail the book to the next person on the list using the cheapest shipping method available.
6. PM me if you have any problems with contacting the next person so I can help with trying to contact her/him.
7. The last person to receive the book should try to keep the book moving by ray-it-forward, RABCK/wishlist request to another Bookcrosser, if possible. Last resort, it is ok to wild-release. I just ask that you do not sell the book.

Here is where the book will be traveling. This will be updated as others join:

This book arrived today. I look forward to doing the test on my cat, Shadow.

Journal Entry 5 by FrancesinSA on Monday, March 16, 2009
We observed and tested our cat over the weekend. According to the book, Siamese males score higher than other breeds because they are vocal and expressive. My cat, Shadow is a male and part Siamese but I was still surprised at how responsive he was. It's official - Shadow is a genius. He scored particularly well in section B: Cat Performance test. We checked again to make sure. Shadow is very frisky and alert and enjoyed all the attention during his test.
When Shadow starts to scratch his front leg with his back paw - beware, he is about to attack the nearest leg. My cat is an animal and I've got the scars to prove it!
My children and I thoroughly enjoyed carrying out the test and the drawings are amusing.

sorry I kept this book for so long! I just got around to testing my cats' IQ tonight and was surprised by the results. Of course, it strikes as about as scientific as those compatability tests from 17 magazine, but it's good rabbit gets to pretend she's the smart one for a bit, even if it is only because the areas in which she excelled were worth more points. A fun little book and will send along as soon as I get the next person's address. Thanks for sharing!

Arrived today. Mo, Felix and Shadow look forward to proving just how clever they are!

Journal Entry 12 by TaxManager from Market Rasen, Lincolnshire United Kingdom on Wednesday, February 17, 2010
Apologies for the delay in completing the tests and sending on this book.

It has been a traumatic time as Shadow, the stray kitten we had been feeding on and off for a year (as he appeared and disappeared, to start with he had a brother too) started coming into the house regularly, only to become very ill and die.

I have done most of the tests with Mo and will complete them in the next couple of days before forwarding to Mallary for the gorgeous Charlie to show just what a clever boy he is.

RIP Shadow (and Smudge your brother), you have left pawprints in our hearts xxxx

This is a nice little book but some of the tests are actually quite difficult to score. I think a lot them would get different results on different days. When I tested Mo with the string on her back she took no notice of it all. A few days earlier however she had played like a kitten (she is around 13 years old) when I put my crochet wool on her back.

In the end her score was in the normal range and of course I know she is a genius!
