The Hero Inside (Help for Heroes)

The Hero Inside is the officially authorised fund-raising book for Help for Heroes, the charity founded in 2007 to support servicemen and women wounded in the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. Conceived and photographed by Gill Shaw, this inspirational book is a thought-provoking and, at times, emotional record of the experiences and traumas both on the battlefield and at home and is a tribute to our Armed Forces and those who support them on their return.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
Many of the service people featured in this book have been injured in recent conflicts and it is with these conflicts that Help for Heroes is most closely identified. But this isn't just a parade of those with scars, missing limbs and wheelchair users, though people who fall into those categories who have been injured in other theatres also feature. Most importantly, we hear the real voices of those who feature, some more eloquent than others, but all with a story to tell. The prose has not been tidied up for smooth readability. These are the stories, and this is how they were told.
The book is threaded with the stories of those who have fund-raised for Help for Heroes and how they have done it and of how Help for Heroes has gained the high profile it has. Those in the public eye who are associated with the armed forces also feature - the foreword is by Ross Kemp, H4H's patron.
