Thank you for taking the time to visit us at Bookcrossing.
If this is your first visit to our site...welcome! I'm sure you'll find it fun!
All over the world people are following the journey of their books through BookCrossing, by making an entry you will be helping keep this book's unique history up-to-date.
As part of my never ending battle with Mt TBR I am trying to register all of the books in my house. I am hoping this will help me track where they came from & how long they stay on the shelves...this one is from my bookclub of the month...I adored the other books by this author & look forward to this read.
"Second hand books are wild books, homeless books; they have come together in vast flocks of variegated feather, and have a charm which the domesticated volumes of the library lack." --Virginia Woolf

"A book is a mysterious object, I said, and once it floats out into the world, anything can happen. All kinds of mischief can be caused, and there's not a damned thing you can do about it. For better or worse, it's completely out of your control."

Thank you. I was just told today by another bookie that I HAD to read something by this author...and then this book arrived :-)

This book took the author 9 years to write. And he included all the major incidents in it: Columbine, Katrina, 9/11 aftermath and the start of the war in Iraq. Toss in PTSD, dysfunctional families, child abuse, homicide, narcotic addiction, alcoholism. Then digress into the protagonists ancestors and how a women's prison got built on his land (where is wife is serving her homicide sentence is being served), and I stopped reading. Skipped to the ending to see if I was going to miss anything by not reading the last 450 pages. Nope. If the author focused on one event, and fictionalized it more, the story would have been much, much better.
This one is being tagged forward. Hopefully, the next reader likes it more.

This book has arrived safely in NJ! Thanks so much for the tag!
