The Tracey fragments

Another book I contemplated purchasing but resisted until I found it at the Children's Hospital Book Market.
Tracey's 15. She's been riding the bus for two days. In a blizzard. Clad only in a shower curtain. She smells. Her parents don't love her. They don't love her younger brother either. He acts like a dog. Maybe that's why. Tracey has to look out for him. That's why she's on the bus. She has to look for him. Tracey is a loser. All the kids at school know it. She refers to herself as "It" when it does loser things. How handy. Tracey has a psychologist. Her psychologist calls her "dear" and says she cares about her. But the psychologist won't take her home with her. Bummer. Tracey loves Billy Speed. As if she knew what love was. But she'll do anything to have Billy Speed notice her and love her back. Anything at all. So yeah, Billy Speed raped her and that's why we're on the bus, looking for Sonny. And that's why Tracey's telling us all about her sad fucked up life. TRACEY'S A BIG FAT LIAR. Except about the fucked up part. Time to get off the bus dear and grow up.
An engrossing (but short, thank goodness) novel about teenage angst told from inside the wail. The book was apparently made into a movie. I haven't seen it and, having read the book, don't intend to - once is enough.
This is my fifteenth book by a female author read for the 2nd Canadian Book Challenge, Eh?
