This is the story about a six year old girl, Sheila who was abandoned by her mother on a highway when she was 4. She survived horrific abuse, she never spoke and never cried.
Placed in a class for severely retarded children after committing an atrocious act of violence against another child.
The only person who had faith in her was her teacher, Torey Hayden. It took her a long time to release a haunted little girl from her secret nightmare, and nurtured the spark of genious which she knew was trapped inside Sheila's silence.
This is the remarkable story of their journey together.
A truly gripping book which I found hard to put down.
