I loved this book until page 358. At that point, Tepper's polarized morals reared their annoying heads. Up to that point, I was thinking that this book was a good as some of Tepper's compelling science fiction from the 80's; namely her True Game series. In a way, The Visitor could be a set up for the True Game series. The ending leaves unanswered questions, enough to lead into a sequal, perhaps.

I loved how the book began in total mystery/chaos and the fog slowly cleared throughout the book...But when the fog finally lifted at the end, it seemed to become kind of preachy, disappointing and mundane. At least that is how I remember it (it's been a year since I read it)! It seemed to be set up to become a series-- I would definitely read them if they existed!
