"The Diary"
Mark is a man who finds a diary in a taxi cab and thinks he might be falling in love with the woman who wrote the diary.
But we are not interested in Mark right now. We are interested in the woman.
Her name is Mary.
Our job is to write this Mary's mysterious diary, one entry at a time, and hopefully, by the end we will understand why Mark thinks he's in love with Mary.
Here's how this ring is going to work:
Participants sign up.
I will start it off with the first entry, and then I'll send it to the first person in the list.
That person then writes the second entry and sends it the the next person, who will write the third entry and so on... Simple huh? Simple and hopefully fun!
You can write as much or as little as you want...
By the end, I'll upload Mary's diary somewhere everyone can read it. :D

Found this a bit tricky as it's set in new york and I don't know the minutiae of american life (assuming it's not like Friends!!). Even had to watch my vocab. I wanted to take the dog to the vet, but do americans say vet? Or veterinarian? Also, my grilled chicken was out. Should it be broiled? Not sure.
Anyway... was fun, and is now on it's way to Wales.

Book was mailed off to KarenBC last week! I'm sending this off by surface because shipping charges to Canada is very expensive and they still take 3 weeks to arrive. This one should get there in 2-2.5 months time.

Received! (and much quicker than you thought jneni!) - going to read through all the entries and get a "feel" for what Mary has been up to thus far. Looking forward to this!
Yikes! Mary's diary showed up today and it came with a nice silver gel PEN! Whoever is after me might just as well go out and buy another silver gel pen right now. The chances of me still having it and remembering to send it on are pretty close to zip. I am a hopeless pen stealer and pen loser. I've already lost it once in the morass of pens, pencils, paperclips and elastic bands on my desk. And it's only been twenty minutes since the postman dropped off the parcel.
Okay, I've now taken one elastic band (elastic bands are a totally different thing. I never lose those. I think they breed on my desk) from aforementioned morass and have strapped pen to diary. That'll keep it there for a while anyway. At least until I have to take it off again to read the entries and write some. Wish me luck!

There *was* quite a difference in price between surface and air mail, but I felt so bad about hanging on to the diary so long that I decided to dig deep! Hopefully it gets to you soon Canadian-Babe. (But, if it takes longer to get to Italy than it did getting from Singapore to Canada, I'm going to be really irked!)

When Pooker3 PMed me for my address, I had completely forgotten that I asked to partecipate in this venture. But I'm glad I did because this is definately going to be fun!

This is going to be tough considering that up until now everyone has been really great and I hope I'll be just as good! LOL! I'll do my best! ;)

I found it!! It went to my old work address and then got lost. Was found and given to me when I was in NM on 1/17/09 - packaging was ripped.
I didn't know what it was just threw in car and drove to VA. I will try to get it moving as soon as I can.

I think a status update is definitely warranted.
When I realized what I had in my hand I immediately read it and decided I would ponder and then sit and write. Well I pondered and then promptly got cuaght up in work and unpacking and well to be honest, I need to reread and then write my portion. I am planning to reread this evening and verify my portion of the plot fits character and then will hopeful write my portion by the end of the weekend.

Well the pen died in the middle of my writing. I tried a number of light colored gel pens but they didn't show up on the black pages. When I went to the store the only thing I found that looked like it would work was a silver marker. I have been using it.
I finished writing my portion and I think I left the next person with many options.

Yes, Mary's Diary is finally home! I'm so happy to see it again, I'd forgotten about it, as I'm sure most of you had too :)
It arrived this morning, and I was so eager to read what Mary has been up to, that I popped the whole lot (poetry book included) into my bag before I headed off to work. I read it on the train, and I must have look a little crazy, because I was smiling like a maniac, reading all your entries!
I wanted to thank you all for taking part, and I think you all did a great job with the entries-I got so into it I almost missed my stop! Mary went from some random character I made up to a 'real person'.
I will be putting up all of the entries for everyone to read, but bare with me, I have a full time job! I'm thinking of publishing the entries along with Mark's story, so that might take a little longer... (Remember Mark? The guy who found the diary?) But I promise it will happen! I'll journal here again with the link. :)
