The book arrived with a funny note, thank you, Kerriou! This book looks like new, I wonder if anyone has read it before ?! I will, however, I hope I'll have time for it really soon...!

This was an impressive story with deep emotions, I couldn't read it without tears in my eyes. Not a very comfortable book to read, but unforgettable, however. I liked the way how Galloway described war by telling about three different characters. I found Arrow the most interesting of these characters.
I wish I had had a peaceful environment to read this book, but unfortunately I hadn't possibility to read it alone.

This book really made an impression on me. From the first beginning I liked the text, where the peaceful style provides an impressive contrast to the war scene described. The writer often slows down the text, so the time stops and there you are. An elegiac novel, sad and beautiful.
There is the afterword telling briefly about the background on the story. I also checked Siege of Sarajevo in Wikipedia. There the cellist is too :)

After I finished this book I had tears in my eyes and a big lump in my chest. There' re no words to describe the effect the book had on me It's such a beautiful and such a sad book. Galloway manages his writing to touch when he describes the everyday horrors of city under siege. Constant fear, lack of water and bread, people who can turn everything, even other people's suffering into profit, pain and all the ugliness of the civil war and the magnificent contrast to the cellist playing and mourning.

I loved this book I can't say more than that.

I picked this book up at our local meeting. Looks interesting, even more so after reading the previous journal entries.

I liked the book a lot. It was really touching to read about people trying to live their lives and survive during the siege.

I read the book on my holiday in Madeira, and although it wasn't the happiest holiday reading, I was glad that I had time to concentrate on the story and the characters. I left the book in the hotel's bookshelf.
