I received this book, written by the man who inspired the film Hotel Rwanda, as a Christmas gift.

I saw the movie Hotel Rwanda when it came out, so I knew this story, but Rusesabagina's account of how his country went mad delves into the history of the Hutu-Tutsi conflict in a deeper manner. It's stunning how little those of us in the West knew or cared about the genocide during the three months it was happening. He may consider himself an ordinary man, but what he did during that horrible time was extraordinary.

At the moment, the book joins my available stack.

The book is on its way to ikkinlala, who won it in my monthly RABCK contest. Enjoy! (Well, as much as you can enjoy a book about genocide...)

Like you say, enjoy might not be the right word for this one. I'm sure it will be interesting, though - thank you so much for sharing it!

I have not seen Hotel Rwanda, but I know a bit about the conflict from books by Romeo Dallaire.

This was fascinating, and I'm sorry it got left in a box for so long (due to a move).

'Enjoy' wasn't quite the word, but it was a lot less depressing than I had expected.
