From the first look at the book, the title matches the cover. The cover of the book consists of a hand in a blue background covered in round, colored sprinkles. The picture might hint of a characters life as the million little pieces that have formed that character to what he is presently. I think that the book will have a negative tone because it deals with a guy who is trying to recover from drugs. Drugs are never a positive thing, therefore there has to be a switch in the guys life that made him start doing drugs. I'm excited to start reading this book.

First of all, I want to state that this was a truly inspiring book, not just for those who are trying to face their addictions, but for everyone. It touched on the human characteristics, such that we always blame others for our problems and are too weak to take on the responsibility of our own actions. The main message I received was that to overcome any of our problems or addictions, we first have to face ourselves. I thought it was a brilliant image of James unable to face himself in the mirror, to look into his own eyes the first few days at the clinic. As time went on however, and as he dealt with his demons, little by little he would climb up his body until he reached the chin, the lips, nose, the shape of the eyes...and it wasn't until he was able to face and confront all of his demons that he looked into his own eyes for the first time. Furthermore, "the Fury" became an entire character in itself, the very demon of addiction. He put a name to his anger and pain, and when reading about it, you can almost put a face on the Fury. The book overall was clever and very well written. I enjoyed the unique writing style. It was amazing how with so few punctuation marks, Frey was able to portray the images and emotions so clearly and with so much power. Lastly, I also want to mention that Oprah's negative view of the memoir, of it not being entirely true, goes besides the point of how fantastic the book is and how many people's lives it has changed for the better. This was a terrific book to read.
