A simple tale of adultry and deception amoungst the Paysans of France between the wars. These people are comfortably well off by the 1930's, but still live a peasant lifestyle albeit with cars and maids and tenant farmers. I feel the author has captured the atomsphere of the time, and has taken on the narrator's voice of the outsider with family connections well. It is a very short book which is easy to read.

Chose this from amongst a selection on table at BX meeting last night.
Not a book that I would normally have chosen to read but I nevertheless enjoyed it as it was short and easy to read. Nice to have opportunity to try something different.
