Found at one of the OBCZs. Haven't read yet, but will. Gave to Javaczuk to read first to see if he liked the series.

This is an entertaining book by a professor of English lit at some university near Venice. It features Commissario Guido Brunetti, a middle aged cop who married above his station, but who still manages to have a rewarding and happy life at home. Apparently the author, Donna Leon, has written a number of mysteries featuring the Commissario. What gives these books a little extra edge is that Leon writes graphically about Italy and all it has to offer culturally with great love, including extensive descriptions of Venetian cuisine, so beware and make sure you have eaten before reading. The editing could use some tightening, but it doesn't distract terribly from this enjoyable read.

Another interesting novel in this series. One thing I like about Brunetti is his determination to find out the truth, even though Venice's corrupt government may prevent justice being served.

I was so excited to see this book in the Charleston Museum (on April 7) because I realized right away that it was a Bookcrossing book and I've never just happened upon one before. I live in Pennsylvania so the book has already traveled through several states and I plan to take it on an overseas trip to leave it in another country in June.
