The Color of Magic is Terry Pratchette's maiden voyage through the now-legendary land of discworld. This is where it all begins-with the tourist Twoflower and his wizard guide, rincewind.

Received the book in the mail today. Can't wait to get started...

Journal Entry 4 by Jolanda from Rotterdam, Zuid-Holland Netherlands on Friday, June 6, 2003
The first discworld novel. It took me longer to read then I'd expected. But I loved it as much as I did the first time I read this book. (Which was in Dutch and at least 10 years ago.) Twoflowers the tourist make me think about how I behave in foreign countries. Although I'm usually not looking for fights, hero's and getting lost I am, like Twoflowers, positivly amazed by everything what I see. Luckily I never used to have a guide, whose a wizard with only one spell in his head. :) And I've to admit that the original english version is better then the dutch translation ( which wasn't bad at all). I'd a couple of good laughs!

I won't be near the postoffice during openinghours this weekend. I'll mail the book to Portugal as soon as possible.

Hello Everyone! Got this yesterday from Leanne345 but I have been a lazy beast and left off journaling its safe arrival until today. Thanks Leanne for sending it to me. And thanks for the postcards as well, Leanne and Jcleto. It is lovely to see where everyone is from. I will be adding a postcard of my humble little town so that by the time Aaratnayake receives the book back she will have a fine collection, if everyone keeps adding. I think it is a great idea!

What a wacky world! I am now a Disc World fan. A wizard (failed) with one spell and Disc World's first ever tourist have a series of mishaps and calamities through the revolving world on top of four elephants standing on the back of a turtle swimming through space.

Rincewind (the wizard) and Twoflowers, (the tourist) are the unlike duo who not only escape Death and defied Fate (well, that was a game of the Gods and the Lady's doing, who incidentally is green and slimy at one stage) but conjure up a dragon (that was Twoflowers, who is not a wizard and has no magical powers but something much better!!!) and just generally cause havoc wherever they go. The Luggage causes much of the rest but isn't that the case with every holiday!!! Great reading and I want more!

Arrived today. Will try to speed this ring book along...

(And the fact that I love Pratchett's work has NOTHING to do with this. At all. Not a bit.)

Aw, I see I forgot to journal this book. Sorry everyone! I love this book. But, for honest disclosure, I am a Terry Pratchett fan already, so this is just a bag of candy for me to eat without guilt. This is fun and imaginative and just makes me want to spend a bunch of money to buy the rest of this series...

Made me smile across the miles and oceans and journies this book has already been on.

emailing ladyofunicorns now.
