Wow.
So the class is officially over.
Looks like I got an A. <3

We didn't get very far in the class, actually, due to some unfortunately-scheduled holidays and sluggish pace of Saturday learners. But it was really fun. I ADORE my teacher; she is the biggest sweetheart I've ever met. Hopefully, I'll be able to keep in touch after the class ends. I've never been successful with that when it comes to other instructors, but I'm hopeful.

Our last lecture was about the Song dynasty in China, which is only chapter 14 in an 18 chapter book. (I didn't even read the chapter, tho'. What a slacker.) Sherman Lee's writing is very dry, and boring. I don't think I'll bother reading the final chapters, even though I need to learn more about this art if art history's going to be my major! I do have another art history textbook by Marilyn Stokstad, which is most European art but also spends a fair amount of time discussing Asian arts. It also has the additional bonus of being in color, which this textbook was not. Black and white pages are such a bummer. Yeah, it keeps the cost down...but honestly, I'd rather shell out the extra dough and have colored photographs in my art book!

I will probably end up selling this book on Amazon.com in the next few weeks. I mean, it was expensive, and I'd like to recoup some of the cost and put it towards future textbook costs.

My significant other came back from a Little Free Library in Chapel Hill, NC, with this book a few months ago. I am sorry I did not log it sooner.

We noted that practically every word in the book is highlighted but in different colors, clearly showing that different professors and different readers found different parts of the book to be important.

To quote the significant other, "When every word is important, none are."

We flipped through it like a coffee table book but ultimately discovered it was, instead, a textbook, so it was slated to be passed on at the next Little Free Library we were to encounter in our travels. Which will be this weekend.
