Anne of Green Gables -- JOIN THIS BOOKRAY!!
12 journalers for this copy...

One of my favorite books as a young girl. I loved Anne and her entire series! I have reread this book in particular several times.
What’s a bookray and how does it work?
A bookray is when a book passes from person to person based on the list of members involved. Preferably a bookray book is never released into the wild.
To join this bookray (or any other bookray of mine) please private message me. I will be glad to add you to the list. New members are added all of the time so be sure to check the list of participants before you mail the book to the next in line just in case!
Once you are a bookray member you will receive the book from the person listed before you. When you receive the book please make a journal entry stating that you’ve received it. Then read it as soon as you can (no absolute hurry, just be reasonable please :o), and journal again with your thoughts. You’ll then need to private message the person on the list after you for their address. Mail the book by media mail (it’s cheaper!), and make release notes on the book only if you’d like to. Then sit back and watch the continuing journey!
The members are as follows:
Miss-Efficiency (Canada) (journaled)
Arina (Portugal) -- (currently has ownership)
mady (Portugal) (prefers to ship w/in Europe)
blacksheeps99 (Austria)
mynitti (Finland)
Cairbre (Finland)
FutureCat (New Zealand)
caligula03 (California)
pchemphd (Florida)

Received this in the mail today as part of a bookray. I'll dig into it shortly, as soon as I'm done Mercy Among the Children.

What a wonderful book! I don't know why I never read this as a kid. You'd think it would be required reading for Canadians. L.M. Montgomery's use of language is beautiful, and the nuances in the characters make this story so poignant. You could never get all that across in a movie.
I'll be sending this off to Arina shortly.

Another vacation surprise!I loved the series when i was younger!! I'll get at it as soon as i'm done with another bookring i'm reading just now. I'll try not to take too long...

Just as i thought... i just loved this book! I adored the serie when i was younger but the book is so much better (as books tend to be). I found Anne to be a fascinating character (reminded me of my sister when she was younger herself), full of live and with quite an imagination (and a great tendency for misthief). It was a great fun to read about her, and i would love to read the sequel...
On it's way to mady's hands...

Got this one a couple of hours ago from Arina's hands :) I'm really anxious to read it cause I loved the TV show and later on the cartoons based on this book... I'm quite sure I'll enjoy it.
Since I'm just back from holidays I have still a few other books from bookrings to read, but I'm sure it won't take me long to get to this one :) Thanks a lot to Arina and to the previous readers :)

OOOooohhh, such a wonderful book! I've enjoyed it sooo much! Despite all her flaws and mistakes, Anne's such a loveable character!! And I'd been missing the feeling of being totally addicted to a book :) Now I am a bit lonely without Anne's company, but I'm rather happy to know that there are still 2 more books with Anne Shirley's adventures. Definitely recommend this book.

I was once in a ring for this book, but the book "got lost" and Mady was very kind to let me "infiltrate" in this ray!
Thanks Pgsahm for one more ray! :-)

A really nice book that brought me back to the near past... It is wonderful how LMM describes Anne's personality and it's evolution throughout time. My eyes became very tired because I just couldn't drop the book!! I'll definately try to read the continuation of Anne's story! By the way, the japanese children series was very good.

Just wonderful!!!
I remembered the TV series but the book is much, much better. I simply love the language of Montgomery, she has such an imagination, which suits fine for a character like Anne.
I can't wait to read the other books.

Received the book yesterday - and will start reading today!
Thanks a lot!!
Thanks a lot!!

I´ve almost finished reading this "splendid" book! I remember the series too (I loved it) - and I´ve read one or two of the books in german (many years ago) - and now I want to know more about Anne and Diana, Marilla and everyone else in Avonlea! (Will Anne fall in love with Gilbert? I think I remember something like that??)
Thanks a lot to pgsahm for sharing this wonderful book - It gives me a thrill to know that I will have the honour to read the other Anne-books too! :-))
And thanks to fflloorr for your elegant sending!

I've read this series when I was 10 years old, and I liked the books a lot. Anne is called Anna in the Finnish translation. I wonder why they made that choice? The first book was translated into Finnish in 1920, so maybe it was thought best to use a more popular name at the time (and there are still more Annas than Annes in Finland).
Anyway, the book was as wonderful as I remembered. Thanks for starting this bookray, pgsahm!
I mailed the book to Cairbre today.
Happy New Year, everyone!

This book came to me while I was away from home. I'll start to read it today! Thank you!

I just loved this book. It's just so heartwarming story and I really really would like to read other Anne-books as well... I think I'll run to library tomorrow...
I will mail this to FutureCat tomorrow.

What a lovely book! L.M. Montgomery manages that near-impossible task for a children's author of creating a character who is sweet without being at all sickly. I remember watching the TV series as a child and not being all that impressed by it, so never read the books - now I wish I had - I would have related so well to Anne and her imagination!
Like others have mentioned, I can't wait to read the rest of the series!
Off to caligula03 next.

Let me first say that I love this book and I'm eagerly looking forward to rereading it. My first go at this book was about 15 years ago when I came across a battered copy in the street on the way home from highschool. It really captured my imagination and I took extra meaning of the orphaned book with the orphaned protagonist looking for a loving home.
I will read and release it to the next on the list as soon as I can.

Anne Shirley will always have a special place in my heart as one of my favorite literary characters. The reread delighted as much this time as the first time I read the book.

Release planned for Saturday, June 12, 2004 at pchemphd in n/a, n/a Controlled Releases.
Mailing on Saturday.

Thanks for sending the book my way. Since I'm at the end of the ray, and the book is in good shape, I may hunt for more readers for another relay.
