Hartelijke groet,
Stromend-Water
This book goes to Gyralanivos, because I knew he was planning to send it to someone and got another wish for it (within a week). I had one spare, and we share books, so it's traveling to England. I hope you will enjoy it. :-)
Thanks a lot!

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
In southern Australia life seems to be carrying on almost normally, people still go to work and talk about and plan for, the future.
I kept thinking about the film The War Game, the contrast is remarkable, in that, people loot and riot and there is complete anarchy. Despite having emigrated to Australia, Neville Shute was a middle-class Englishman at heart, did he think that was how people would behave under those circumstances, with stiff upper lip firmly in place? I'm not convinced, myself - the book is definitely of it's time, there are hints of misogyny here and there and I really didn't like how Shute kept referring to baby Jennifer as "it". Despite that I found it a compelling read and I would like to read more of Shute's books, the only other of his I have read is A Town Like Alice.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
I think Nevil Shute was a very astute writer and observer of human nature. I loved how he had everyone saving some petrol, squirrelling it away to use during their last few weeks or days on earth but with no-one knowing where anyone else had got it from.
It was very poignant as people made so many plans for the future but I enjoyed the dignified way that most of them coped at the end.
I found some of the technical information at the beginning a bit off-putting but am very glad that I re-read this book which I first read as a teenage schoolgirl, which is far more years ago than I care to remember. I know it had a profound effect on me then and persuaded me, urged on by my father, to read more novels by the author."
ETA, having just re-read the previous review by raeliz-I agree that people probably wouldn't have acted in such a "stiff upper lip" manner but, having said that, we are talking about the early 1950's and things were so much different then.
I am reserving the book for my husband who I think will enjoy it then will try to find it another good home..
Therefore I have now offered it to another bookcrosser. If she doesn't want it I will try to find another good home for it.
To the finder:-
Welcome to bookcrossing -you have found a travelling book. Please make a journal entry now to say where you found the book in case it has been moved. Then, when you have read it, please come back and make a further entry saying whether or not you enjoyed the book and why. It is now yours to do as you like with it, pass it to a friend or just leave it somewhere different for someone else to find and help it with its' journey. Of course if you can't bear to part with it at the moment then keep it, but please let me know that you have found it. If you join bookcrossing, which is free and spam-free, you can follow the book on its' travels as you will get an email each time it changes hands, but if you prefer to remain anonymous, that's fine too. Please also say what you intend to do with the book next. Thanks for coming onto the site to let me know you have found the book.
I already have books travelling in many countries around the world-a list can be found on my bookcrossing profile.
When re-releasing this book please be aware that airports are not a good place to leave books unless they have a specific book exchange shelf or area, due to security problems, so they may well just be disposed of. Also charity shops may well discard books that have been labelled in any way and they mostly chose only the books in the very best condition
to place on their shelves and discard the rest-so another bad release option.
