Angela's Ashes
4 journalers for this copy...
An interesting memoir of a young Irish boy growing into manhood during the depression. A worthy read.

Awww, thanks teenie-k! Finally, I get to finish reading this book. I'll just have to remember *not* to take it to McNaught Pontiac the next time I take my car in for service. I hope whoever found my copy there enjoyed it.
And thank-you for the super duper book string too! You're fab!

My goodness, I am so glad I finally got to read this book. Thank you teenie-k! Once I started, I couldn't put it down and luckily I didn't get my car serviced during the time I was reading so this book didn't suffer the untimely release that my copy did.
McCourt says on the first page, "When I look back on my childhood I wonder how I survived at all." I had to wonder too and I marveled at how a boy with such a rotten start in life could grow up and become a Pulitzer Prize winning author.
The book is immensely readable, profoundly touching and I think that McCourt captures perfectly the curiosities and insecurities of a child growing up, no matter what their circumstances.
Truly a memorable book.

Dark subject matter, but very funny. Worth a read.
