Unlike most people Matt Beckford is actually looking forward to turning thirty. After struggling through most of his twenties he thinks his career, finances and love life are finally sorted. But when he splits up with his girlfriend, he realises that life has different plans for him. Unable to cope with his future falling apart Matt temporarily moves back to his parents. During his enforced exodus only his old school mates can keep him sane, friends he hasn't seen since he was nineteen, back together after a decade apart. But things will never be the same for any of them because when you're turning thirty nothing's as simple as it used to be.

I really LOVED this book! I haven't turned thirty myself (3 years to go), but I could imagine the feeling Matt Beckford has. Mike Gayle has a very nice way to write, I couldn't stop reading!

Thank you very much! Indeed, I like Mike Gayles' writing, so, unfortunately, I've already read this book. But this is a very funny book indeed! I will release this book on a special occasion.

Picked up this book at the meeting. Since I am turning thirty soonish and I also look forward to it, this must be the book for me!

Loving the humor in this book! Plus, any book that uses the word 'wandering' so often must be quite OK. :o)

Since people around me are turning thirty by the bunch and all moaning and complaining about the big 3-0, by the sound of it it must be horrible to turn thirty. I never get that, since life is getting better every year as far as I'm concerned. This book shed a little light on the things that might be troubling them, though. Apart from that, the pre-occupation with what your peers are up to is quite recognizable, even though in my case it's not to compare success, but a curiousity how our lives went in totally different directions.

Anyways. My favourite character is Charlotte for loving to dance on 'golden oldies' vinyl records.

__________

p.70: I gazed out of the window, my attention wandering as an attractive girl in office-type clothing walked by briskly as if she was late for something important.
p.78: Wandering through the city centre, in seach of new clothes that might bolster my confidence for this bold new stage of my life, I saw an alarming number of attractive young women and tried to imagine myself with them.
p.116: 'wandering and all that.'
p.254: Half an hour later we were back at the house, wandering in and out of the bathroom doing our regular getting-ready-for-bed routine.
p.286: She withdrew her wandering fingertips.
p.292: Ginny's come here straight after work and we are wandering around aimlessly because that's what we did virtually every day during long, hot, post-exam summers.
p.344: 'Katrina saw you go wandering off.'

I found the book at Schevening-Denhaag in The Netherlands i was on a trip to the beach and walking back to the car i founded it there on the street. I took the book with me to Eindhoven cause i was interested in what it was i didnt read it realy much, cause it was boring and goes over people that are 30 and i,m 17, i like this way what people are doign with books and if it goes over the whole world its even more amazing everybody shoud do this.

I,m goign to leave it behind soon if i founded a good place for it hope i will see it soon here ;)

Greetings
