I didn't intend to buy any books today, but MrPloppy wanted to go into Liberty to see if they had a book he's been looking for, so of course I had to have a quick browse while he was searching for it. End result: add another couple of books to Mt TBR.

Strangely evocative retellings of classic fairy-tales, with a feminist twist (as the blurb on the front says, what if Cinderella turned down the prince?). The stories work individually, but also intertwine to make a longer, Scheherazade-like tale. I didn't recognise all of the fairy-tales, but for the ones I didn't, it was easy to take a guess (using the logic of all folk tales) at what "should" have happened.

I liked the way one fairy tale led to the next. Very interesting take on traditional fairytales and enjoyed this book. Didn't recognize all of the original fairytales but that didn't matter. Certainly a different twist on the happily ever after in the originals.

Picked up at a bookcrossing dinner a couple of weeks ago, thanks FC and LW -I'm looking forward to reading this one, in fact I might get to it sooner rather than later:-)
I finished this a while ago and enjoyed it. Beautifully written as all this authors books are and such a different "take" on the classic tales many of which I weren't familiar with. I've passed this on to my sister who may or may not journal it.
