A story of two sisters, the smart one and the pretty ( and very dyslexic) one, and how they came to terms with each other, their mother´s death 20 years ago and their missing grandmother. Nice.

Received the book today in the mail!
Will start reading tonight :-)
And by the way, it's the very first bookray I participate in!!
update: I enjoyed the story of Rose and her sister Maggie, how they both changed and developped, and I especially liked the fact that books/poetry/reading itself had an influence on Maggie.
The book will go out to "Pikapolonica" in Sweden on Monday, May 19th.

Pikapolonica can not journal this book right now but has asked me to journal that it has arrived in Stockholm and she now is reading it. I hope she enjoys it, and glad you enjoyed it, allbookedup, I also had pretty much the same feelings!
Sorry for a late entry, the book arrived more than a week ago, but I was offline during this time and the book made a detour to a conference in Helsinki together with me. :)
Nice story, this! In the end I really liked both sisters, even though one of them appeared totally horrible during the first half of the book...
Sent to Gyd today (Tuesday, 10th June).

It's just arrived today, safe & sound. I'm reading another bookringed book right now, but I'll try to read them as fast as possible!. Really.
I found hard to believe Maggie's character in the first half of the book ( can somebody act like this and be unaware of the hurting she's causing to others??). But I happily (& sadly :'() enjoyed the second half (couldn't stop reading!!). Now I'm looking forward to read 'Good in bed' :0)
Thanks BlossomU for starting this BookRay!!
And the book will keep travelling next Monday, this time to Lisboa to visit Fflloorr's home :0)

Change of plans! I've been contacted by a local TV channel(TV3, Catalonian Television) asking for information about BC. And they asked for a book to show in their afternoon program... I hope you all don't mind I've lent them this one !! It will keep this BookRay just a bit delayed ...
(I have to learn to do not tell when I'm mailing the book but after it's already done! sorry)

Oh no! One more bookray book. :-) I'm now buried in a lot of rings/rays. Please people, be patient with me. I'll try to read the book asap.
Thanks again Gyd, for one more book!
Thanks again Gyd, for one more book!
Loved the book!
Although I think the story should be more focused on the chacracter Maggie. I think she was much more interesting than her sister Rose.
My favorite part is when Maggie goes to live in the University, simply hilarious!
The book is already on its way to Germany.

Finally In Her Shoes is here. I almost thought that it was lost in mail but luckily it appeared in my mailbox yesterday. I really took long to get here from Germany. I try to read it as soon as possible so the ray keeps moving. Thanks BlossomU and Nikel27.
I didn't quite like this book as much as I did the first one by Jennifer Weiner, "Good in Bed". I still really enjoyed it. My favorite part also was the part where Maggie goes to college. :) At parts it was very funny and I liked the easy-read style. Now I'm only waiting for the next person to pm me their address.

I was just looking for a fun read, and here it is, arrived today, amongst the Middlesex, Red Tent and Eyre Affair trilogy. Thank you BlossomU for organising this bookray.
Journal Entry 18 by Robbiesmum from Thirsk, North Yorkshire United Kingdom on Saturday, April 3, 2004
Just to let you all know I'm about half way through this and really enjoying the mix of characters. I did prefer Good In Bed but I was blown away by the story as it spoke out to me. This one, doesn't shout this is you to my ear, but I am enjoying the humour and the trials and differences between the sisters. I should be posting this out to Virgulina later in the week.

I enjoyed reading this book very much - although I was far more sympathetic to Rose than Maggie until the latter part of the story. Like other people, I wasn't sure that Maggie could hurt people without realising. I don't approve of stealing at all, and found it hard to accept her as one of the main protagonists for a while. I did like the link with Ella, and how the characters linked together through the past and the photos. The development in the characters from the middle onwards was fascinating because the two sisters were influenced by lifestyles which didn't appear to be them at all. I liked the introduction of poetry and novels in Maggie's life as it showed her reaching her potential in all her life. A fun read which I enjoyed. Thanks BlossumU
I am now officialy in BookRay paradise, I've got so many of them at the moment. Please be patient with me and I'll get this book on its way as soon as possible! :)
What can I say about this book? I liked it even better than Good in Bed and now I can't wait to read her next one Little Earthquakes.
It's funny how the two sisters seem to exchange roles and in my opinion both of them become better people towards the end of the book. Maggie's time at the University is one of the funniest parts of the book and we're able to catch a glimpse of Cannie and Nifkin at the park.
I don't usually cry with books but at the end of this one I felt a pang of happiness for both of the girls and I almost cried! :)

I'm mailing this book to mfa as she hasn't been attending our meetings and I've had it with me for too long! :)
virgulina sent me this book ages ago... although i never journaled it then (sorry!), i've read it back in the summer.
i enjoyed reading it, but perhaps it is too much "chick-litty" for me. therefore, i really don't know what to write about it (we never studied the genre back at university:) ).
on the whole i felt it dwealt a bit too much on simple opposites (good/bad, pretty/plain, stupid/intelligent), and it just felt artificial without being esthetical, if that makes any sense.
but what did strike me tho most was maggie: she was just awful and patethic, and there's no excuse, literary or else, for her behaviour - she really wasn't worth so many pages.
i know it might not sound like it, but i did enjoy the book :)
thank you virgulina (who made sure i got the book and kept on asking me about it and therefore is due a big "desculpa" from me) and blossomU (it's a shame you had to ask me about the book). i'll post it to patxocas today.
[ps: teresa, não me esqueci do empréstimo do "good in bed"... esperas mais um bocadinho?... *descaramento*]

Sorry for taking so long....
I really liked the evolution of the relation between the two sisters. At the beginning I was quite surprised and thinking how could someone like Maggie exist without caring about other people fellings but the second part of the book was very good (I couldnt stop reading it...) and in the end everything was very nice. My favourtie part was when Maggie was in the University and with her grandmother... I agree with fflloorr, Maggie was much more interesting than Rose...
It will go to Xana as soon as I have an address

I'm sorry for keaping the book for so long.
At the begining, with Christmas and New Year, I didn't have much time...
I've to agree that the time Maggie's goes to university is the best.
I've a copy of Good in bed from the same autor to read soon.
It's going to fly to Lisbon soon to Elsita.

It is a nice book, specially as it flows towards the end. It is very true that some people are "different" (like Maggie) but in the end aren't they better than others known as "normal"?
Thanks BlossomU and Liduina, for sharing.
It is being mailed tomorrow to pipmts.

Obrigada, mais uma vez!
Já enviei PM à Xeyra. Em princípio segue na Segunda-feira, se já tiver a morada.

Arrived today and I plan to read it as soon as I can. I have another bookring before this one but it shouldn't take me long. Hopefully I won't keep it with me for more than a month.
