Lord Jim (1900) is a work of Joseph Conrad's maturity as a writer, and is one of the books which singled him out as a master storyteller and a great novelist - one of the first English 'Modernists'.
The story is one of human frailty, conscience, and the search for explation of guilt, set against a maritime background in the Far East. It thus brings out to the full Conrad's lenghty, firsthand experiences as a Master Mariner prior to his becoming a writer. It is, above all, a tale of a quest for honour which is not completed until the final poignant climax.

Okay. I still haven't read this one. It's time to release it somewhere.
