Case was burnt-out, useless, suicidal - his nervous system grievously maimed by a wartime Russian mycotoxin. The top Japanese experts in nerve-splicing and microbionics had taken his money and left him crippled. His days as a software cowboy seemed over.
Then Case met a man who could cure him. In return, Case had to do a job. Had to. Because bonded to his artery walls were tiny sacs of the mycotoxin. Tiny sacs, slowly melting...
This was published in 1984 and won several Sci-fi awards.
This was excellent, all cyberpunky and dark. Ninjas, Rastafarians and AIs, and software cowboys surfing the virtual world with ghosts for company. Marvellous!

A few guidelines:
1. Journal the book when you receive it so we know it arrived safely.
2. Take as much time as you need to read it, but try and move it along within a reasonable time.
3. A journal entry when you've finished it would be appreciated, even if it just says ‘I liked this’ or ‘I wasn’t keen’.
4. Mail the book to the next person. PLEASE do a release note when you've done this.
PM me if you would like to join in. List is subject to order change depending upon shipping preference.

Quite a good book - in the vein of the Bladerunner film and in the tradition of Philip K Dick. Hard to believe the book was written in 1983 - as it is quite modern (apart from the awe of microchips that appears to have now waned). Well worth its place in the 1001 books. Sending to Chrissyham in a couple of weeks (at her request).

Dropped through my letterbox this morning. Have got quick a TBR pile mounting, but should get to it within a week or so. Thanks to Davemurray101 for sending it from downunder.
I must admit from the outset that I'm not a big fan of sci-fi but I figured (prompted by the fact it's on the 1001 list) I should give it a go. I actually really enjoyed the first half of the book and really got into it, but then trailed off slightly towards the end. I guess gthat means that if you are into sci-fi that this is a great read. I've got the next address so will drop it in the post later today.

I just cant get into this, even though I'm a sci fi fan, so I'm going to move it along this week.
note: this was sent through the franking at work and was fine when it left. There must have been damage in the post. I'm not in the habit of re-using franking material and my company does not send out mail that way

Thanks for sharing Caroley - I have received this book and look forward to reading it.
Although I have to say that I'm not very happy about having to pay the postage on it as it was sent using a ripped off portion of franked post from another letter!
I'll get to it as soon as I can :)

I'm so sorry for holding up this ray for so long! I've had a horrendous year of study hence have become a really bad BCer! Apologies and thanks for your patience.
Will be sending on to the next reader next week.

Posted today, and on its way to the next reader. Many apologies again for the delay!
Book arrived safe and sound yesterday but was in a rush to get out the door to a wedding so have only just sat down to register it. Thanks for sharing x
8 July 11 - well I've read it and apart from a few moments of clarity I have not got a clue what it was all about. I'm not sure if it was the book (I normally don't mind a bit of si-fi) or if my mind just wasn't on it due to a poorly kitty this last week, so maybe I'm not the best person to judge. I have the address of the next person so will pop it in the post today.

On its way to Portugal xx
Here it is! I'll try to be quick, thanks for sharing :)
First of all, I'm sorry I've been keeping this for so long. Mt TBR hasn't allowed me to pick this up. I haven't read it yet, I'm currently doing so, but since I'm last one on the list, I thought I just might leave a message on the BRays forum to see if anyone else would like to give it a go, and so I'm making this JE to let you know that I'll be sending it into the world again soon ;) It hasn't been an easy read, but I hope I'll find some readers willing to give it a try :)
This book was just not made for me. I'm not a huge sci-fi fan, but I do like to read the genre once in a while; however, this was too wacky for me. It's really the only way I can describe it. I couldn't manage to end it as I wasn't understanding the plot line at all. From the first page I felt like I had landed in the middle of some story that had no beginning, there just doesn't seem to be a proper setup for all that takes place in the plot. Maybe is just me, as I see some readers quite liked it, but I have to agree with kingfan30: I had no clue what the book was about.
That being said, I tried to release this through another Ray without success, so I hosted a small raffle; ergoqed was the winner and I sent the book out today. I hope you enjoy!
