It's 1881 and Sally Lockhart's life is going pretty well - until a man turns up on her doorstep claiming to be her husband and threatening to take her daughter away...
Rather good historical adventure novel. I do like Sally Lockhart as a hero: she's brave, resourceful and funny. All to the good.
