Traditional but quirky mystery novel. I have a newspapering background, so I'm a sucker for small-town journalism stories! Too bad the culprit happens to share the same first name as one of my parents!!!

Released on Friday, May 23, 2003 at Office lunchroom in Northeast D.C. in Washington, District of Columbia USA.

It's on the bookshelves next to the "ethics policy" display and the box of coupons for overseas soldiers.

Picked this book out of the Mystery Bookbox. I like this author. I have only read her bed and breakfast mysteries. This one says it's an "Emma Lord mystery". Looking forward to it- thanks!

This is the 13th book in this series and the first I have read. I find it a little disconcerting when I come in at the end of a series because I can spot the places where the author is making references to the previous books. As a reader I LOVE that when I have read a whole series so I'm not really complaining. But now I know how it came out- especially some of Emma's romances and I wonder if I will enjoy the other books in the series as much because of that.... mind you, I still intend to read them!

Inspite of all that this book is a good mystery and it does stand alone. Emma plays straight-woman to a bunch of quirky characters as they try to solve the mystery of who killed Ronnie's girlfriend. A crime that Emma's n'er-do-well cousin Ronnie is accused of but doesn't seem to have the emotional wherewithall to pull off.

I will continue to look for books by this author, both her Emma Lord series and her bed and breakfast series.
