Arrived today in the post, thanks so much CITIBELLE! I'm really looking forward to reading this, as I thoroughly enjoyed her last book.

Journal Entry 4 by DryKid from Birmingham, West Midlands United Kingdom on Thursday, April 09, 2009
Loved this book and the intertwining stories within it, I couldn't put it down. Tragic, yet written with a sharp wit, it was a very compelling read. Though you may have to keep checking back to see which story fits where in the grand scheme of the book. The way Kate Atkinson opens the story in the first 3 chapters is very clever, and what follows does not disappoint.

This will be going out as a bookray. Please try and pass the book on within a month, and make a journal when you receive, read and post it on. Hope you enjoy the book, as I did.

I really enjoyed this book. I had a bad feeling about it during the first chapter for some reason...it just seemed like it was going to be hard to get into. But once I got past that I liked it a lot. I loved the characters; some are quirky, some are dark, some you pity - I thought it was a good mix, and an intriguing mystery.

I mailed this on to the next person in the bookray this afternoon.

Enjoy!

I apologize - I received this book at least a week ago but set it aside and didn't journal. I am behind on my reading and will likely take longer than the month to pass it on. I can't wait to read it. Sorry that I will be holding you all up - will get to it as quickly as I can.

I thought Atkinson had some great momentum building, but felt a little disappointed when I finished it last night. I can't quite put my finger on it...maybe it was a few of the unresolved stories (Michelle/Caroline, Theo/Lily-Rose) or perhaps it was just the fact that there was one too many sad deaths for me. I like her books, but I don't LOVE them, the way many people I know do.

Thanks for the opportunity, DryKid. I will PM the next in line now and hopefully get this book in the mail next week.

Really looking forward to this one!

Well, I really loved this one. I know "Behind the Scenes at the Museum", by this same writer, was a big success some years ago... but this is the first novel by Kate Atkinson (see pic) I read, and it has left me wanting for more...
A complex detective story, where all characters and stories finally fit together nicely, which must have been difficult to achieve.
A fine piece of writing, which grabs you since the start...
Thanks for sharing, Drykid; time for this book to move on.
I already have Bjorg's address (he hadn't given up on me!), so the book will soon be on its way to Iceland.

thanks, Bjork. I was not at home last week but the book had arrived and it was safe and waiting for me in the mailbox when I came home.

Journal Entry 25 by thy at Nurmijärvi, Uusimaa / Nyland Finland on Wednesday, September 21, 2011
I liked the stories and the way that the book was 'built'. I did not find the characters that likable, the book was quite sad and I felt that somehow the cases were not properly solved. So it's more like real life than a traditional thriller/mystery. But the book was very gripping and I did like it as I have liked the other Atkinson's books that I have read.

I have asked jarrett622's address but no reply, checking if HunterRyu is still interested

edited 4.10. HunterRyu already had the book, so sending to kerbam1421 next, I already have her address
