I read this book years ago when I was thinking of going into education and took a children's literature class. It was the first Lois Lowry book that I ever read. I really enjoyed this book, which is about a young Jewish girl who stays with her German friend and pretends to be part of the family to escape Nazi Germans. When I found it at Goodwill today for a quarter, I had to buy it to use for bookcrossing.
You have found a bookcrossing book! I hope that you enjoy reading this book, then pass it along to a friend, neighbor, family member, co-worker, or simply leave it somewhere for another lucky reader to find as you did. If this book isn’t the type that you like to read, please be kind enough to help it on its journey.
Please take a moment to leave a journal entry to let me know where you found this book. You may remain anonymous if you wish. After you read the book, please come back and let me know what you thought about it and what you will do with the book when you finish with it. You may come back any time to read where this book has traveled and what others thought about it. Thank you for letting me know where this book has traveled!

Sent from my bud bug Ladybug74 - thanks for looking out for me. I'll journal when I finish it.
Story is told about King Christian X of Denmark and how he liked to ride in the city to see his people. A Nazi soldier saw the King riding alone and asked "Where is his bodyguard?" A proud Dane replied. "All of Denmark is his bodyguard".
Large chunks of Denmark took it upon themselves to be bodyguards for their small Jewish population during the Nazi occupation and bring them safely out of the country to neutral Sweden.
Lovely and little-known story based on fact about one family and a little girl who participates in a rescue of her Jewish neighbours.
Very happy to read it again.

The book arrived safe and sound yesterday. Thank you for sending it our way! I will get this in the student's hands right away! It is a wonderful story. I loved it when I first read it, and reading it again and again has been a pleasure for me. Thanks for your generous RABCK!
One of my favorite teachers passed this on to me. It looks like a good book. I will read it soon and pass it along. Thanks for sending it to us.
This really is a good book. I really like the story Lois Lowry tells because unlike a lot of Haulocaust stories this one is marked by cleverness and deceit of the Nazi regime. I also like the author's characters. This book is worth reading again and again and should also be made into a children's play. I love it.
It looks like a good book.

This really was a great book. I liked it because it told about another episode of survival during the Holocaust. I know its fiction, but I was impressed by the author's use of details which I didnt already know about. I recommend this book to anyone. It is an easy book to read so its good for kids. I think adults would like it too, especially if they enjoy fiction or childrens books.
I am mailing this one to another reader.
