This book is set in a world that has returned back to the dark ages where faith is all that is to be believed and science is outlawed following global warming.

My first impressions were that this book was very extreme and that the world described was totally unrealistic. However by the time I was 1/3 into it, I realised that the world he was describing was a little too close for comfort. The fact that I am even writing this review proves it. The characters although some larger than life are just simply exaggarated versions of those seen in towns today. Society is plastic and everyone voices there opinions and feelings on the internet or at least what they think they should write. Be warned users of Facebook and YouTube..

A very enjoyable, dark and thought provoking read.. My second Ben Elton read. Recommended.

This book travelled to Greece with me, was going to set it free whist away, but my 21 year old son, who has only read 3 other books decided he would read it on the day we were to return home, and by the time we arrive at home he had succeeded in completing, that's not to say it's a short book, but it's one you don't want to put down.
