"Whatever you think this is going to be like," she whispers, "it's going to be worse."
When beautiful serial killer Gretchen Lowell captured her last victim - the man in charge of hunting her down - she quickly established who was really in control of the investigation. So why, after ten days of horrifying physical and mental torture, did she release Detective Archie Sheridan from the brink of death and hand herself in?
Two years on, Archie now returns to lead the search for a new killer, whose recent attacks on teenage girls have left the city of Portland reeling.Shadowed by vulnerable young reporter Susan Ward, Archie knows that only one person can help him climb into the mind of this psychopath. But can Archie finally manage to confront the demons of his past without being consumed by them?

Brilliant!!!
This is a really good chilling crime novel, with a sexy female killer who could stand up to Hannibal Lecter...you wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of Gretchen Lowell!
The storyline itself is gripping & the relationship between Gretchen & Archie makes for compelling reading - I couldn't put this down.
I read this while away in Scotland & intended to wild release it as part of the WHAT'S IN A NAME CHALLENGE (HeARTsick!) but I' d love someone else's opinion of it so it's going to go to another BCer & I know just the person - watch this space....

Thanks Plum-crazy,you know how to pick em for me! The "blurb" on the back looks like it will be gripping, but it may take me a while to get to it as MT TBR is still huge and there are a few I have promised to people that I must get read and on their way.
Sorry it's taken me so long to get to this, you know how it is! You also know just how to pick the best books out for me, I really enjoyed (if that's the right word) this, I found it difficult to put down once I'd started. The relationship between Archie and Gretchen is very compelling if somewhat twisted and I didn't spot the twist coming at the end. I will be on the lookout for more by this author.
