I really enjoyed this book. We follow the characters from their 20s until they're old ladies, and see them become wives, mothers and grandmothers. I particularly like the links between the UK and USA throughout the book. There are secrets which are revealed as the story flows - adding to the interest of the characters. They aren't perfect, they have flaws and strengths, and hidden secrets in their family closets. Happy reading!

Received this book in the post for 'Robiesmum'.
It was a bit slow going getting into it, but it was really entertaining - sometimes funny...sometimes a bit sad...once it took off. I will release it sometime within the next week or so.

Received this (via Simon at the Boardroom and Mothercat) to add to the box we're sending up to Palmerston North, but I'm seriously tempted to read it myself first...

Spent the whole morning reading, and managed to finish it! It's definitely a don't-put-down sort of book - you get quite caught up following the lives of the women, who all seem to know exactly where they're going when the book starts, and end up somewhere completely different.
They got the date wrong for the moon landing, which really irritated me, but I'm willing to give the author the benefit of the doubt and say that it might have been a typo (in which case the editor should be shot!).
I liked the recipes and newspaper clippings scattered amongst the narrative (although I wish they'd been reproduced a bit more clearly - I wanted to read more than just the headlines!) - they gave a great sense of the passage of time (not just in the historical events being recorded, but in the language used, and the layout style).
Off to Palmerston North next...
